Fever of 3 days duration and any of the
following: positive tourniquet test, petechiae, low platelet count
(<100,000/mm3) or any hemorrhagic manifestations.

DENGUE SHOCK SYNDROME
Clinical Features:

DF + hypotension for age or
pulse pressure < 20 mm Hg
ØHydrophobia, and acute onset of any two of the
following: foaming of the mouth, convulsions, bladder paralysis, pupillary
dilatation, and difficulty of swallowing usually followed by death; with history
of animal or human bite.
Incubation Period:
lUsually 20-90 days (range 1-19
years)

lBite (injection of infectious
saliva through any break in the skin)
Non-bite (licking of scratches,
