AMLAN RARE PRIDE CAMPAIGN PARTNERS’ CONFERENCE
The Municipality of Amlan led by Hon. Mayor Bentham de la Cruz hosted the Amlan Rare Pride Campaign Partners’ Conference yesterday, March 29, 2011 in Tandayag, Amlan Negros Oriental. The conference was participated by Hon. Governor Roel Degamo, RARE Pride Representatives, Provincial Government’s Environment & Natural Resources led by Mrs. Mercy Teves, Mayor Bentham de la Cruz, Amaln Sangguniang Bayan Members, Barangay Officials, Amlan MENRO Staff, Tandayag Fishermen Association and Amlan Bantay Dagat Members.
The RARE Pride Campaign Representatives headed by Mr. Stuart Green, the current Country Director of RARE Pride Campaign, along with him was Ms. Annalisa Bianchessi – the Senior Pride Program Manager, Mr. David Bellard - the Director of Creative Services at RARE, and Mr. Simon Enderby – the Cameraman Scubazoo. The team conducted an interview in reference with the Tandayag Marine Reserve in Amlan with the Provincial Governor, Hon. Roel Degamo, Hon. Bentham de la Cruz – Mayor of Amlan, Mrs. Mercy Teves - ENRD Chief, Ms. Annabelle Barillo, a RARE conservation fellow, Hon. Emelyn Rosales, Tandayag Barangay Officials, Mr. Job Tagle – MENRO and Mr. Adam Granada – a Bantay Dagat Member of Tandayag Marine Sanctuary.
Today, March 30, 2011, another interview will be conducted for the Tandayag Barangay Captain, Mr. Carlo Angelo Buscato. Then the RARE Representatives will dive and snorkel inside the Tandayag Marine Reserve to take pictures and videos. They will also get videos for those spear fishers and hook and line fishers for documentation purposes.

What is RARE Pride Campaign?
As what the Country Director of RARE Pride Campaign, Mr. Stuart Green said, RARE is a Non-Government International Organization based in Tagbilaran, Bohol dedicated to promote social marketing concerning the management of Marine Protected Areas (MPA). This organization focuses on capturing the hearts of the community to be proud of the natural resources that are already present in their areas. The techniques used called “tools” for marketing were based from successful business entrepreneurs who concentrate on the conservation and protection of marine life. RARE Pride campaign came to the Philippines, which is popularly known to be the center of the center of the world’s Marine biodiversity. Among the 120 Municipalities who applied for the RARE Project, the RARE Pride Campaign has only chosen 12 Municipalities and one of the best RARE Pride Campaign is in Amlan according to him. -flodbagz
